The third instalment of the Cape Town Business Summit and Expo takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on Wednesday July 31.
The 2024 summit, in partnership with MTN and Santam, will also have a business expo with a focus on small businesses.
The event, which has Cape Community Media, distributors of this title and its 12 sister titles, as its print media partner, will have a line-up of dynamic speakers, including James Vos, the City of Cape Town’s mayoral committee member for economic growth and tourism; Vusi Thembekwayo, global business speaker, investor and mentor; Dr Catherine Duggan, director of the UCT Graduate School of Business; Dean Macpherson, Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure; Ashor Sarupen, Deputy Minister of Finance; Major-General Albert Maqashalala, the Western Cape’s Deputy Police Commissioner for Crime Detection and head of SAPS’ Provincial Extortion Task Team investigating business crimes; and Sandy Naude, CEO of Africa Community Media, publishers of Cape Community Media in addition to titles in the Eastern and Northern Cape as well as KwaZulu-Natal.
Organisers of the business summit said it serves as a convergence point for like-minded entrepreneurs and aspiring business leaders, convening annually to foster networking opportunities, engage in discussions pertinent to mutual business interests, and collaboratively devise solutions to the challenges encountered amid today’s dynamic economic landscape.
Under the overarching theme of “Re-building and Marketing Your Business Through Challenging Times,” this year’s event promises insightful deliberations aimed at empowering attendees with strategies to navigate and thrive in the face of adversity.
During last year’s summit, attendees voiced a desire for increased opportunities to network and engage with speakers – the event organisers have taken heed of this feedback and to this end, the inaugural business expo has been added to the line-up.
Scheduled concurrently with the summit, the expo will showcase about 15 exhibitors spanning a diverse range of business sectors, including banking services, essential business amenities, and other pivotal business-related informational services.
There will be free entry to the business expo, which runs from 10am to 5pm, while the summit, which starts at 5pm, is a paid event.
