Forty-eight schools from across Cape Town and including one from Moscow are performing abridged 45-minute versions of their favourite Shakespeare play at the Shakespeare Schools Festival South Africa.
The annual festival is taking place at the Homecoming Centre (formerly the Fugard Theatre), from Tuesday May 6 to Saturday May 31.
Two plays are performed at the festival each night and audiences are in for a treat as these youngsters deliver highly entertaining renditions of the Bard’s works. Tickets are available through Webtickets.
Joining the renditions of the Bard’s works, pupils from the International School of Cape Town will be presenting their abridged version of The Tempest at the upcoming Shakespeare Schools Festival.
