The inaugural Milk + Cookies Music Week South Africa, incorporating the Milk + Cookies Festivals takes place from today, Friday January 3 to Sunday January 12.
The Cape Town leg runs from January 3 to 5 before the festival moves to Johannesburg from January 9 to 12.
Both legs of the festival will be headlined by internationally acclaimed Haitian-Canadian producer Kaytranada.
The programme kicks off today, Friday January 3, with Dot Connector, a day of workshops and music industry networking at the Homecoming Centre in District Six, from noon to 5pm. This will be followed by a party at Broke KlubHouse in Wale Street, Cape Town, from 7pm to midnight.
The Brunch Sessions take place on Saturday January 4 at Therapy Restaurant in Gardens from 11am to 3pm. Here you can network and enjoy gourmet dishes and cocktails with industry leaders, artists, and tastemakers.
Also on Saturday, there’ll be a party at Texas in Park Road, Gardens, from 6pm to 2am; leading up to the main event which takes place at The Ostrich, just outside Cape Town, from 2pm to 10pm on Sunday January 5.
This celebration of music and culture will be headlined by Kaytranada, and feature top international and local artists as well as food trucks, art installations, and diverse performances. It will be followed by an after-hours set by Kaytranada at the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, from 10pm to 2am.
