About 3000 people go through Victoria Hospital’s emergency centre each month.
Victoria Hospital officially opened its new emergency centre this week.
Provincial head of health Dr Keith Cloete said the R68-million facility was a monument to a long-standing culture of caring at the hospital and a testament to the people working there.
After Health MEC Dr Nomafrench Mbombo cut the ribbon, hospital staff sang and danced as she walked inside.
Dr Mbombo emphasised the balancing act of dealing with coronavirus cases and trauma cases, especially at the end of the month. She said about 3000 people attended the emergency centre each month.
