Emmanuel Educare kitchen staff Anna Francke and Maria Geduld with their certificates of appreciation.
Staff, past employees and special guests who have been involved with the Westlake United Church Trust over the years, joined it in celebrating its 20th anniversary on Sunday July 3.
It was a joyful occasion filled with songs of praise, dance, speeches, food and the handing out of certificates of appreciation to those who have contributed to the work of the non-profit organisation, which employs 60 people at its multi-service facility in Westlake Village.
Among other things, the organisation addresses issues of extreme poverty, illness, early childhood development and unemployment. Its Emmanuel Educare preschool caters for up to 210 children; its home-based care programme supports 350 people, with the carers conducting some 2 000 home visits a month; and its community advice office serves about 400 people each month.
