Post Office evicted

The Plumstead post office was closed unexpectedly on Friday September 23 with staff scrambling to remove belongings. Post Office spokesperson Johan Kruger said the landlord evicted the staff owing to a rental dispute. “The Post Office is working to reopen the Plumstead post office as soon as possible,” he said. Meanwhile the Kenilworth post office, 7km away, is a convenient alternative and mail items normally collected from Plumstead will be available at the Kenilworth counters from Monday October 3. Kirstenhof residents have also been informed that the Tokai Post office in Blue Route Mall will cease to operate from Friday September 30. The SAPO suggests that they make use of their Retreat Post Office which is located at 56, 7th Avenue, Retreat.
