Making a difference

Staff Reporter|Published

During May, the Cape Town Clothing Guild, which displayed its woollen wares at Meadowridge library in March, will collect and distribute items of new, warm, winter clothing to 37 charities across the peninsula. Established in 1889, its members have donated thousands of articles annually to keep the less fortunate comfortable during winter. In 2022, more than 26500 new items were distributed. The charity deals only in new clothing in an effort to promote self respect among the recipients. Each year, members of the guild are asked to donate two items that have been sewn, knitted, crocheted or bought. Donations of wool and material are also welcome. These are distributed to pensioners who are willing to help but cannot afford to buy wool supplies.
