SACS has won R20 000 for taking first place in the Sustainable Trendsetters Buildathon, a competition that saw pupils from nine southern suburbs schools compete at Blue Route Mall, on Earth Day, Saturday April 22, to see who could build the best sculpture out of recyclable waste. Wynberg Boys’ Junior School, Muizenberg Primary School, Zwaanswyk Academy, Bay Primary School, Rustenberg Girls’ Junior, Sweet Valley Primary School, Steenberg Primary and Kirstenhof Primary also took part in the competition (“Pupils make art out of trash for Earth Day,” Constantiaberg Bulletin, April 27).
