The Beach Huts 2025 Art Show, in support of the preservation of Muizenberg’s beach huts, launched today, Thursday February 6, as part of the First Thursdays Down South event.
The exhibition will run for two months, closing at the end of March, and will be open to the public from Wednesday to Saturday, from 10am to 6pm.
The event will be held at Beach Huts Studios, located in the old post office building in Muizenberg and overlooking the very beach huts that have inspired the art on display.
The exhibition supports the ongoing maintenance of the huts following their recent renovation.
Local artists have collaborated to create works inspired by the beach huts with the pieces curated by AJ Burns and Gavin Larkin, among others.
Each work’s frame is made from original wood recovered from the refurbishment of the huts. The rebuilt huts are made with weather-resistant material.
