Cubs from the 1st Naruna and Constantia Scout Group and the 2nd Plumstead Cubs participated in a joint Harry Potter–themed camp at the Glencairn Rotary Campsite from Friday to Sunday, May 2 to 4.
On the first evening, the Cubs explored the wonders of the night sky, learning about the Southern Cross constellation and how to find north, the phases of the moon, and the planets of the solar system. They also created pinhole planetariums—all contributing toward earning their Skies Interest Badges.
Saturday was filled with adventure, as the Cubs took part in a variety of structured activities at Glencairn Beach. Highlights included a Triwizard Tournament, a lively game of Quidditch, and a Harry Potter–themed escape room.
On Sunday, the Cubs attended a “Herbology Lab,” where they learned about acid rain, transplanted plant cuttings to take home, and conducted an experiment to observe how plants breathe.
