The Wynberg Girls' Junior School soccer team is preparing to embark on a journey to Denmark to take part in the Dana Cup, one of the world’s largest international youth soccer tournaments.
The Dana Cup is set to take place in Hjørring, Denmark, in July and brings together around 1,000 teams from more than 45 nations in a shared passion for the game.
The Wynberg players will be rubbing shoulders—and cleats—with some of the best young talent from around the world as they step up to represent not only their school community but also South Africa on an international stage.
To mark the milestone, the players received their official tour kit during a formal assembly on Friday, June 20.
“In the lead-up to the tournament, the team has been training rigorously, focusing not only on sharpening their skills but also on building strong team chemistry. Off the field, they’ve also been learning about Danish culture and preparing to be proud ambassadors of both Wynberg Girls' Junior School and their country,” said Wendilee Melle, Wynberg Girls' Junior School spokesperson.
The trip promises to be a rich cultural experience. The players will be immersed in a new environment; meeting peers from different cultures, navigating life in a foreign country, and creating lasting memories.
