A group of over 20 hikers braved the elements of the harsh Cape Town storms to hike from Cecelia Forest and finish off at Constantia Nek earlier this month.

The hike started on Saturday, July 5, from Cecelia Forest, where hikers crossed the Woody Reservoir and overnighted in a mountain hut. They then came through the Jeep track and took the path to Constantia Nek.

The hikers are part of the Outdoor Squad hiking group, and they come from areas like Diep River, Goodwood, Retreat, Grassy Park, Athlone, and Strandfontein.

Shelley Veldsman, from Diep River, who was on the hike, said they truly battled the elements on Saturday, July 5. “Wind, hail, rain, and thunder like I’ve never heard before, and extreme cold, but it was all worth it,” she said.
