Wynberg Girls’ Junior School recently returned from a trip to Denmark, where they proudly represented South Africa at the prestigious Dana Cup in July.

The Cup is a large international youth soccer tournament held annually in Hjørring, Denmark.

The team of under-13 girls showed determination and team spirit as they competed in five tough matches.

They won two games, drew one, and lost two closely contested matches, finishing an impressive sixth in their age group.

Their proudest moment came when they were awarded the Fair Play Trophy, recognising outstanding sportsmanship, respect and integrity on and off the field.

With over 1,000 teams and 15,000 players from across the world taking part, Wynberg was the only girls’ team to receive this honour.

The Fair Play Trophy is given to teams that show consistent respect, fairness and the true spirit of the game—qualities that the Wynberg girls demonstrated throughout the tournament.

“We are incredibly proud of how our girls conducted themselves throughout the tournament,” said their coach, Roger Links.

“They not only gave it their all on the pitch, but also showed the world what South African sportsmanship and camaraderie truly look like.”

The team was accompanied by staff members Wendilee Melle and Ashleigh Lindsay.
