The Tokai Lions Club marked National Women’s Day with a special event for 30 survivors of domestic and gender-based violence, in partnership with the Steenberg and Muizenberg police victim empowerment teams.

The annual gathering, which took place on Saturday, August 9, included performances by singer Tony Red Rose, soothing hand massages from visually impaired therapists of the Light and Healing Organisation, and breakfast and lunch for all guests.

Guests were treated to a delicious breakfast and lunch, and each woman also received a gift bag to take home.

Keynote speakers Moeriedha Dien of Steenberg police and visiting guest Nadja Ensink-Teich, a speaker, mentor, and writer from the Netherlands, shared powerful personal stories of courage and resilience.

The Lions Club thanked all members and partners whose dedication made the day possible.
