The Lions Club of Tokai hosted its annual potjiekos competition on Saturday, November 8 - the club’s biggest fundraising event of the year.
The event drew a strong turnout from the community, with eight teams competing and showcasing their culinary skills.
The standard of cooking was described as exceptionally high, with each team presenting their own take on the traditional South African dish.

Taking top honours was the team “Platform 9 and 3⁄4,” who impressed the judges with their winning menu of lemon chicken, herb bread, and dumplings.
In addition to the team entry fees, the club raised further funds by selling more than 80 raffle tickets, with all proceeds going towards community initiatives supported by the Lions.
The Lions Club of Tokai expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part — from those who cooked and judged to those who donated prizes and bought tickets.
“Each person played a vital role in making this event such a tremendous success,” said Mark Rossouw from the Tokai Lions.
“We are deeply grateful for the support and community spirit that made the day so special.”
