Bergvliet High School’s class of 2025 has finally reached the summit of achieving a 100 % passrate after nine years of coming close.

The last time the school had accomplished a 100 % pass rate was when the class of 2016 pulled off that feat. The classes of 2023 and 2024 came close with 99.5% pass rates in the respective years.

In achieving its 100% pass rate, it also accomplished 92.5% bachelor passes, which is the highest in the school’s history.

Bergvliet High School principal, Patricia Demus, said this phenomenal success belongs to all their pupils.

To our pupils, you have shown incredible determination, resilience, and perseverance in the face of your matric exams. We know this was no easy task. The daily challenges you navigate would overwhelm many, yet you rose above them with courage and grace,” she said.

Their top performing pupil was Nathan October, who was named the 2025 Dux Learner of Bergvliet High School.

“This prestigious honour recognises not only his outstanding academic achievements but also the exceptional person he has become throughout his journey with us,” she said.

Nathan accomplished an 87.29 % pass aggregate, along with seven distinctions.

Nathan said he is really content with his results.

“I would like to thank the excellent teachers at Bergvliet High. I am so grateful to attend a school that could help me grow,” he said.

Nathan is planning on studying a degree in Mechatronics engineering at Stellenbosch University.

Ms Demus also thanked her dedicated staff for their unwavering commitment, late nights, and tireless efforts to support each learner, which have borne fruit beyond measure.

“You believed in them when they needed it most,” she said.

She said apart from their teaching staff that supported the matrics, she also wants to thank the vital members of their schooling community, which includes the school’s administrative staff, the security personnel, the housekeeping staff, the maintenance team, and the school governing body (SGB)

She paid tribute to the pupil’s family for their sacrifices, encouragement, and support.

“You provided the foundation upon which your children could build their dreams,” she said.
