The Miracle Kidz Safe House will host a special fundraising concert in March to raise essential funds to continue its work caring for vulnerable children.
The concert, titled “Godfrey Johnson, with a little help from my friends”, will be led by acclaimed musician and pianist Godfrey Johnson from Milnerton. He will be joined on stage by fellow performers Brandon Faasen, Nicola Hetz and Debby Jamieson, along with additional guest artists, for an evening of uplifting live music in support of a meaningful cause.
The safe house, based in Tokai, has been operating since 1997. Miracle Kidz Safe House founder Elsie Du Plessis said the organisation provides a safe, loving, and nurturing environment for abused, abandoned, and neglected babies and toddlers.
“Our goal is to protect vulnerable little ones, meet their daily physical and emotional needs, and give them the best possible start toward a healthier future,” she said.
Ms Du Plessis said all the funds raised will help cover daily operational costs, including groceries, cleaning materials, medication, medical support, hygiene items, utilities, transport, and staffing to ensure daily 24-hour care.
“Most of our funding comes from the generosity of the public and from fundraisers like this one,” she said.
Mr Johnson said it is a privilege to use music to support this important work.
“Miracle Kidz Safe House does such important work with very vulnerable children, and it’s a privilege to be able to contribute by using what we do,” he said.
Beyond raising funds, Mr Johnson said that he hopes the concert will rally community support and remind people that even small actions, such as buying a ticket, can make a lasting difference.
Guests can expect a variety-style performing arts evening with a strong cabaret/theatre feel, including comedy, monologues, poetry, and lots of songs.
The concert takes place at Wynberg Boys' High School in Wynberg on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7, at 7pm. Tickets are available via Quicket.
