Several Lions clubs, including the Fish Hoek Lions Club, partnered with a large e-commerce retail outlet to make up school bags for children in less fortunate communities.
In December, Fish Hoek Lions Club, Cape of Good Hope Lions, and Sea Point Lions Club packed 3 000 school bags with essential stationery donated by the company.
On Monday, January 13, the Fish Hoek Lions Club, along with representatives from the company, delivered 200 school bags to Longbeach Mall in support of its back-to-school stationery-collection drive.
“These school bags are more than just stationery. They represent hope, opportunity, and a brighter future for children who need it most,” said Fish Hoek Lions Club president Mandy Proctor.
Longbeach Mall shoppers contributed additional supplies to the drive.
Longbeach Mall marketing manager Minnin du Preez said the mall wanted to “bring people together to make a difference”.
