An 8-year-old Diep River boy gave 122 Christmas care packs to the less fortunate in and around the southern suburbs. Last year, Zach McDonald gave a gift-wrapped jar holding R472 in coins to a man whom he and his mother regularly saw at the traffic lights in Wynberg. The man then used the money to make up packets of peanuts to sell (“Little Zach’s heart touched by peanut vendor,” December 10, 2020). On Mandela Day, he gave R50 individual shopping vouchers to 108 less fortunate people. Zach’s mother, Tanielle Lloyd, says everyone could learn a valuable lesson from him.
