Fog did not deter Swim For Change founder Christopher Kleynhans, who swam from Robben Island to Big Bay, Bloubergstrand, yesterday in 2 hours 15 minutes and 43 seconds.
A pod of Heaviside’s dolphins cavorted in fog at Table Bay as the 17-year-old Wynberg Boys’ High School pupil left Oceana Power Boat Club in Green Point, at 7.20am.
The crossing was due to have taken place on Saturday February 27, but it was postponed several times due to weather conditions.
Christopher, who did the crossing to raise money and awareness for mental health, follows in the wake of Wynberg Boys’ old boy Theodore Yach, best known for the 108 Robben Island crossings he achieved in his lifetime.
