Grassy Park Community Police Forum CPF) executive members
The Grassy Park Community Police Forum (CPF) in collaboration with SAPS, SAPS Youth Desk, neighbourhood watches, religious organisations and the people of Ottery, hosted a prayer walk on Sunday December 8, with the primary focus on social cohesion, protection and rights of women and children, building strong bridges between the community and SAPS and establishing a solid foundation for further community and SAPS events/engagements.
Station Commander Colonel Andre Van Wyk took time out from his busy schedule to attend the walk and addressed the crowd about his intentions for Ottery as the new station commander for the precinct.
A SAPS member offered special prayers for the Ottery community, praying for peace and an end to violence on police members.
Community activist Melanie Arendse prayed earnestly for unity between SAPS and the community and an end to gang violence as clashes between the two parties were commonplace previously.
The councillor for Ward 66, William Akim, walked in support.
Gospel songs, prayers and intercessions were welcomed by the crowd who gathered in support of the initiative.
We give God the praise, honour and glory for an incident free and peaceful prayer walk and humbly request the community of Grassy Park to keep the community of Ottery in their prayers.
