"Civic associations are just a old toothless lion" says Plumstead resident

In response to "Civics slam tariff hikes in City's draft budget" Bulletin, April 17.
It has become obvious that the DA is just part of the globalists who wish to force as many as possible out of their own homes and drive them into government-subsidised high-rise cages (densification). They can then build even more high-rise cages, where at some future time, when food is short, they will only give to their supporters.
The civic associations have no purpose anymore and are just a toothless old lion. At one time, the civic associations were the ones who chose the candidate to represent the riding and so had some control over the politicians. But now the politicians are chosen by the party, and so their loyalty is to the party and not actually to the people who voted for them.
At what point did the taxpayers of Cape Town agree to the billions being spent on the MyCiti Bus? A complete White Elephant that will never serve the needs of the people. The taxis do a much better job of that. Who asked us if we wanted an elevated circle at Jan Smuts, costing many billions of Rands? This City is out of control.
Politicians (who vote themselves fat salaries and increases) are remote from how the ordinary person copes with the price of necessities. Even the increase of 0.05% in the VAT has made many people poorer, and now the City wants to make us even poorer with their inflated evaluations of our property.
If we are to pay for water on our property evaluation, why should we make any effort to conserve (we have used recycled water to flush the toilet for 10 years. The R100 surcharge during the water crisis was never rescinded.)
There has been virtually no change in the infrastructure in the last 40 years, where the vast majority of the rates and taxes are raised. What a greedy, uncaring bunch of psychopaths.
