Funds and support have become very limited of late, and we have received very little assistance. However, this group of self-esteem (an initiative for youth) community activists has decided not to allow negativity to come between us and the work we do best: reaching out to our vulnerable communities.

With aged centres closing down, we believe the buck does not stop here. We will focus on the positive - restoring the identity, dignity, and pride of the elderly.

We will continue giving back, as life is too short just to dream. As a group, we have realised that there are ways and means to create unity and seize this amazing opportunity to achieve success.

Success is when a community comes together and runs a project as one. Therefore, we, the Self-esteem Group, will be hosting Miss Metro South across five categories. This event will provide a safe platform that encourages our young teen girls and tiny tots, as well as mothers with a flair and passion for modeling. At the same time, it will help restore self-esteem and confidence.

Our women - both young and old - deserve more protection and confidence. On Sunday, November 9, we believe this will mark the beginning of a new chapter.

With all the funds and sponsorship received, we will give back by hosting a huge lunch for our seniors, who have been the backbone of our communities for many years and continue to inspire our future leaders. This is the time when Volkzge comes together to create a united, supportive front. The self-esteem group has already done so much in the past, and we hold our community responsible for continuing to drive important change.

The self-esteem group needs your support. We kindly ask for donations in the form of fruit bouquets, flowers, trophies, medals, crowns, sashes, or funds. Please reach out to us to help make our outreach event for the elderly a success.

Event details: The event will take place at the rejuvenated and upgraded Retreat Hotel Lounge (generously sponsored by the owner, along with other prizes), on Sunday, November 9, starting at 2pm. Entry Fee for models is R50, and the door entry fee is R50. Snacks will be on sale.
