Kommetjie strongman gears up to make his mark on global stage

After months of training, preparation, and planning, Reuben Jansen van Rensburg, 22, from Kommetjie, is set to compete at the Official Strongman Games in Dallas, Texas. A natural athlete, who rejects steroids and was crowned South Africa’s and Africa’s Strongest Man in the under-80kg division in 2024, the promising contestant left for America last week to prepare for today’s official weigh-in and the competition proper, which starts tomorrow, Friday, November 21, till Sunday, November 23. 

Despite falling R25 000 short of raising the R75 000 needed to cover all his expenses,  R50 000 was raised through the #Ramboer campaign. He now finds himself on the global stage and the opportunity to prove that clean, dedicated strength can conquer the world.
