The ROK National Round 3 kart race is set to take place on Friday and Saturday August 4 and 5, at Killarney Raceway.
The event attracts top racers from all over the country and organisers say the venue’s challenging layout, with its fast straights and tight corners, will put drivers’ skills to the test, guaranteeing edge-of-your-seat action for spectators.
Competitors will be vying for victory in various karting categories, including the Cadet, Kid ROK, Mini ROK, OK-J, and OK-N divisions. These high-performance karts, powered by 125cc engines, can reach speeds of up to 120km per hour.
One of the highlights of the event will be the OK-J category for drivers aged between 11 and 15 who aspire to become future stars of motorsport.
Spectators attending the ROK National Round 3 kart race can expect a festive atmosphere, with food vendors, merchandise stalls, and various entertainment options available throughout the weekend. Families and motorsport enthusiasts alike will have the opportunity to witness the next generation of racing stars and support their favourite drivers as they battle it out on the track.
The event also serves as a platform for young drivers to gain exposure and potentially attract the attention of talent scouts, who are always on the lookout for promising racers. Many successful South African motorsport professionals, including Formula One champion Jody Scheckter, began their careers in karting, making this event an important stepping stone for aspiring talents.
