After several weeks of matches played across the city, the finals of the Sporting Chance Street Netball Festival took place at the Netball World Cup Fan Park at the weekend, coinciding with the start of the World Cup taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
Several school teams from various areas across the city took part in the league competition, with matches played every Friday leading up to the opening day of the World Cup on Friday July 28. Ultimately, Mfuleni’s Team ”Wales” walked away with the winning title after a final score of 22-19, scoring the winning 3 points during two minutes of head-to-head extra time against Team “England”, also from Mfuleni .
